GIVENCHY

MULE TRAIN 1 year, 7 months ago , by Kari Lee Miller

I’ve always loved a good mule. Not the animal, silly; the shoe.

Maybe it’s the imprint of seeing Olivia Newton John turn into “bad Sandy” with the swivel of a red patent stiletto slide. Maybe it’s coming of age in the era of supermodels storming the runways in Manolo’s best embroidered, bedazzled pointy-toe slippers. Maybe it’s the invoking of the very essence of Capri style.

I’m sure a psychologist would have something to say about this…

Luckily, my favorite footwear has made a return this spring. From streetwear inspired at Alexander Wang to modern minimalist at Victoria Beckham to classic lady who lunches at Oscar de la Renta, the mule kicked (see what I did there??) up its heels on runways around the globe. Sky high, pancake flat, embellished, clean…and we can’t forget the season’s street style star, the fur lined loafer slide.

The mule is the perfect compliment to any of spring’s freshest looks, from ladylike dresses to tailored suiting to a tee and jeans-—cropped, of course, to show off your fancy footwork. We especially love the flat slipper-inspired mule, perfect for summer occasions when you maybe need to upgrade from a flip flop.

I wonder how my Birkenstocks will feel about this?
